In today’s TV news roundup, Steve Harvey returns to host the Miss Universe Competition after his 2015  faux pas, Rob & Chyna” gets picked up for a second season, and more.


Steve Harvey will indeed host the upcoming Miss Universe Competition, which will air on Fox on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. The competition marks Harvey’s return after crowning the wrong Miss Universe at the December 2015 competition in Las Vegas. This year’s competition will take place in the Philippines, and model Ashley Graham has been announced as the backstage host.

Jessica Chastain will be featured on Bravo Media‘s “Inside the Actor’s Studio” on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. Chastain will discuss her rise to Hollywood stardom in light of her lead role in “Miss Sloane.” The actress and producer will also talk about her theater training at Julliard and her personal experiences in other films such as “A Most Violent Year” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

Lionel Richie will perform live from Las Vegas on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2017.” Richie will be the first performance of 2017, performing his song “All Night Long” immediately following the midnight countdown and Times Square celebration.

In other New Year’s Eve special news, Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin will be returning as hosts of CNN‘s “New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin,” airing live from Times Square from 8 p.m. through 12:30 a.m.


E!‘s “Rob & Chyna” will be picked up for a second season, the network announced Wednesday in a statement. The series will continue to follow Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna, his fiancé and mother of his newborn daughter Dream. The eight-episode second season will premiere in 2017.


Discovery‘s new series “Everest Rescue” will premiere Jan. 8 at 9 p.m. The six-part docuseries follows the elite helicopter pilots who fly rescue missions to attempt to save the scores of people who attempt to climb Everest and fail — for every 10 who make the summit, one dies trying.


Fox News co-presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine have appointed Kevin Lord as the executive vice president of human resources for Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, and each of the corresponding digital operations. Lord will begin his new role on Jan. 16. Prior to this new position, Lord held the post of senior vice president and chief human resources officer at TEGNA, Inc.
