In today’s TV news roundup, CBS’ “Kevin Can Wait” gets a new showrunner, “Outlander” fans can now pre-order a wine collection based on the series, and more.


“Kevin Can Wait” showrunner Bruce Helford is departing the CBS series, Variety has confirmed. As Helford exits, “Cheers” alum Rob Long is stepping in as exec producer/showrunner. Helford co-created the series with star Kevin James and Rock Reuben. Sources say the shakeup is due to creative differences between James and Helford, but the split was amicable. The sitcom has already landed a full-season order at CBS with 22 episodes.


E! has renewed “Famously Single” for Season 2. The celebrity romance show is produced by Irwin Entertainment with John Irwin, Damian Sullivan, and Brent Benedetti serving as executive producers and Casey Spira as co-exec producer. The second season will premiere in 2017.


Bravo has announced a new lineup of original, short-form digital video series, beginning with “Bravo After Hours with Carrie Keagan premiering Wednesday, Nov. 2. The new series include:

  • “Bravo After Hours” – Host Carrie Keagan takes viewers on a wild ride into the late night, with guests including Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Stassi Schroeder and more. “Bravo After Hours” hails from Goodbye Pictures with Rich Bye serving as executive producer.
  • “The Last Thing” – Guests will include Andy Cohen, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Shannon Beador, Sonja Morgan, Heather and Terry Dubrow, and others as they spill all the beans on the last thing they texted, ate, listened to, kissed, and more.
  • “Bravo’s Midday Getaway” – Bravo’s travel vertical, Jet Set, powers these short, video postcards that help users dive deep into exotic locations around the globe.
  • “Vandersnap Rules” – “Vanderpump Rules” gets a new spin as iconic moments from the hit show are reimagined through Snapchat filters.


NBC will air “A Pentatonix Christmas Special” on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. Pentatonix will be joined for the one-hour special by Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, and other musical stars as they all sing their favorite holiday classics.


Fans of “Outlander” can now pre-order The Outlander Wine Collection from Lot18 in partnership with Sony Pictures Television. The limited edition collection features four hand-crafted blends and uniquely designed labels to honor the characters from the books and TV series, which will premiere its third season in 2017. Shipments will begin on Monday, Nov. 7 and include products based on characters Claire (who gets two vintages, one for Claire “Fraser” and one for Claire “Randall”), Jamie Fraser, and Frank Randall.


Disney|ABC Television Group have announced three holiday specials to air in Nov. and Dec. 2016. “The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration” premieres on ABC Thursday, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m., hosted by Julianne and Derek Hough at Walt Disney World Resort. The following day, “Disney Parks Presents: A Descendants Magical Holiday Celebration” will air on Disney Channel at 8 p.m. and will include performances by Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks and Kelly Clarkson. On Christmas Day, “The Disney Parks’ Magical Christmas Celebration” will air on ABC at 10 a.m., as well as on the ABC and Disney Channel apps. All the specials hails from Disney|ABC and IMG.


CBS has upped CBS Television Stations’ Mike Nelson to senior vice president, communications. Nelson had formerly held the title of vice president. He’ll continue to be the lead spokesperson for the group’s 29 stations, located in major markets across the country.
