Netflix Orders Sci-Fi Drama ‘Travelers’ Starring Eric McCormack

Netflix has ordered the Canadian sci-fi drama “Travelers” from Brad Wright, co-creator of “Stargate SG-1,” that is set to star Eric McCormack.

The series is set hundreds of years in the future where technology has developed a means of sending people back in time to the 21st century to help save humanity from a grim future. “Will & Grace” alum McCormack plays an FBI agent and team leader of the “travelers.” Mackenzie Porter, Patrick Gilmore, Jared Paul Abrahamson, Nesta Marlee Cooper and Reilly Dolman also star.

“Sherlock’s” Nick Hurran is on board to direct the pilot.

Production on 12 episodes began Tuesday in Vancouver. Peacock Alley Entertainment is producing for Netflix and Corus Entertainment’s Showcase net. Netflix will carry the show in all of its markets outside of Canada. It’s expected to premiere later this year.

“My old friend Brad Wright has created a fantastic, complex story with some very rich and complicated characters, and I’m awfully happy to be one of them,”said McCormack.
