Ilana Glazer, Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello blazed through a Q&A on Saturday following the premiere of their subversive time-travel limited series “Time Traveling Bong.” The conversation was held at the SVA Theater in Manhattan as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.

In the three-part series, directed by Aniello, Glazer and Downs play cousins who whirl through history after discovering the titular time traveling bong. “Bong” premieres on April 20 (of course) and will air over three consecutive nights.

Glazer, co-star and exec producer of Comedy Central’s “Broad City,” joked that the team is inspired by a certain recent FX hit. “Have you guys been watching O.J.?” Glazer asked, referring to “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” “We think of this as Comedy Central’s O.J.”

The discussion revealed that Comedy Central shot down a storyline involving a young Bill and Hillary Clinton. On the way to his first date with Hillary, Bill gets high and forgets to go. Hillary’s not mad, but resolves that she and Bill aren’t meant to be. Glazer and Downs try to repair history by bringing the couple together.

In response to why they love stoner humor, Glazer admitted that she just loves weed — but added that it gives them a way to access certain emotions without it sounding cheesy.

“When you watch ‘Friends,’ they are not stoned,” Glazer said, emulating that sitcom’s metered manor of delivering lines with an impression that amounted to: “nuh nah nah nahhh, nuh nah nah nahhh.”
