NBC has greenlit “This Is Us,” an ensemble dramedy from Dan FogelmanVariety has learned.

Starring Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown, the show follows a unique ensemble whose paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways. Described as “refreshingly honest and provocative,” “This Is Us” centers around a group, several of which share the same birthday, and so much more than anyone would expect.

Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan and Ron Cephas Jones round out the cast.

Fogelman serves as writer and exec producer, along with Jess Rosenthal, Charlie Gogolak and directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. “This Is Us” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

Insiders tell Variety that the pilot was one of the most buzzed about through the screening process with many close to the project saying the show is “beautiful.” Last year, the pilot was ordered off-cycle, giving reason to believe it could be a hot project.
