USA Network’s drama pilot “The Tap” has secured a director and principal cast, Variety has learned.

Simon Cellan Jones, whose credits include “Boardwalk Empire” will direct the pilot, which is set at Yale University circa 1969 against the backdrop of the cultural and political unrest of the era.

Hailing from Universal Cable Productions, “The Tap” has also lined up four cast members.

Colin Woodell, recently of “Masters of Sex” and soon to be seen on “Designated Survivor,” will play Jay Butler, who is looking to secure his future by joining Skull and Bones, Yale’s most elite and powerful secret society. Erinn Westbrook of “Awkward,” “Glee” and “Jane the Virgin” will play Gloria Murphy, one of Yale’s first female students and one of the few black students in her class. Ginny Gardner will play Michelle Cuttriss, who along with Gloria, is also part of this historic, inaugural female class. David Corenswet plays Kirk Lewis, a blue-blooded Skull and Bones legacy.

Andrew Lenchewski (“Royal Pains”) and Aaron Tracy (“Sequestered”) wrote the pilot for “The Tap,” with Rob Reiner, Alan Greisman and Charlie Ebersol producing. Lenchewski is an exec producer and Tracy is a co-exec producer.
