French actress Irène Jacob has joined the cast of Showtime’s “The Affair” in a prominent recurring role for the third season, Variety has learned. She will appear in a major season-long arc.

Jacob will play Juliette Le Gall, a new love interest of Noah’s (Dominic West). The character is described as someone who is running from her own secrets and who helps Noah process a trauma from his past and understand himself a little better.

Jacob, a BAFTA and César Award-nominated actress, was first introduced to audiences in 1987 with the film “Au Revoir les Enfants.” She won best actress at the Cannes Film Festival for “The Double Life of Veronique.” Her other credits include “Red,” “U.S. Marshals,” “The Secret Garden,” “Victory” and “Incognito.”

Along with West, “The Affair” stars Ruth Wilson, Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson. Other guest stars in Season 3 include Brendan Fraser and Jennifer Esposito.

“The Affair” explores the emotional and psychological effects of an affair that ruined two marriages, and the crime that brings these individuals back together. The upcoming season will pick up up three years after Noah’s shocking admission of guilt at the murder trial of Scott Lockhart. Noah attempts to restart his life, but the damage done by his past decisions has made him a ghost of his former self. Alison (Wilson) has been raising daughter Joanie alongside Cole (Jackson) and Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno) in Montauk. Helen (Tierney)’s storyline deals with uncertainty with her boyfriend Vik (Omar Metwally), instability amongst her children and guilt.

Season 3 of “The Affair” is set to premiere Sunday, November 20 at 10 p.m.
