The Blacklist’s” Ryan Eggold has closed a deal to co-star in NBC’s female-driven spinoff toplined by Famke Janssen, should the project be greenlit, Variety has learned.

While “The Blacklist” spinoff is in the works, at this point, the only commitment the network has made to the project is a backdoor pilot, which will air this spring. The decision for a full series will come after that episode airs.

While NBC has not released any plot details on the potential spinoff, insiders say Janssen will play the mother to Eggold’s character Tom Keen, as Variety previously reported.

Janssen’s character is named Susan “Scottie” Halsted. She will make her debut on the May 5 episode of “The Blacklist,” and the backdoor pilot is set to air on May 12 in an episode directed by Michael Dinner (“Justified,” “Masters of Sex”).

Edi Gathegi, who currently appears in the original “Blacklist,” is also attached to the potential spinoff, reprising his role of Mr. Solomon. “Unforgettable” alum Tawny Cypress will also join the cast in a major role.

Eggold has starred on the flagship show for all three seasons.
