‘Workaholics’ Star Anders Holm to Topline Fox Comedy From Lee Eisenberg & Gene Stupnitsky

Fox is developing a comedy from “The Office” alums Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky with “Workaholics” star Anders Holm attached to star, Variety has learned.

With Holm’s lead casting, “Workaholics” could be nearing its end. The Comedy Central series has been renewed for an upcoming seventh season, which premieres in January 2017, and stars of the fan-favorite series have alluded to Season 7 being its last, though there’s no official word at this point.

“Pigeon,” which landed a put pilot commitment, follows Simon Pigeon, a private eye, played by Holm, who is uniquely suited to detective work, but ill-equipped to manage his personal life.

The 30-minute single-cam comedy hails from ABC Studios. Eisenberg and Stupnitsky created the project and will serve as writers and exec producers, along with “Workaholics” exec producer Isaac Horne, who is reuniting with Holm on “Pigeon.” Holm will also serve as an EP.

In addition to starring on “Workaholics,” Holm co-created the Comedy Central series. His other recent credits include film gigs such as “The Intern,” in which he played Anne Hathaway’s husband, and “How To Be Single,” alongside Alison Brie. He is repped by WME, Avalon Management and attorney Jeff Endlich.

Writing team Eisenberg and Stupnitsky got their start on “The Office.” They co-created HBO’s “Hello Ladies” and the Cameron Diaz feature “Bad Teacher,” which inspired a short-lived series on which they were exec producers. They are also with WME.
