Watch: ‘Penny Dreadful’ Season 3 Trailer Introduces Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Showtime has revealed the official trailer for the upcoming third season of “Penny Dreadful.”

The clip for the psychological horror-thriller offers up more of the haunting imagery and haunted characters for which the series is known. “Dreadful” stars Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green, as well as new faces, appear in the moody glimpse at the upcoming season.

“You think you know sin?” a voice asks. “I wrote the bloody book.”

The trailer also shows a brief cut of Shazad Latif as Dr. Jekyll, who appears to be transforming into his alter ego Mr. Hyde. The season finds Green’s Vanessa Ives being treated with an unconventional approach by Dr. Seward, played by Tony Award winner Patti LuPone. The new episodes will also feature an intense and enigmatic Native American named Kaetenay, played by Wes Studi, who becomes an ally to Dalton’s Sir Malcolm and has a deep connection with Hartnett’s Ethan Chandler.

“All the broken and shunned creatures,” muses a voice at the end of the trailer. “Someone’s got to care for them. Who shall it be if not us?”

Penny Dreadful” premieres its third season on May 1 and also stars Christian Carmargo, Sam Barnett, Jessica Barden, Reeve Carney, Billie Piper and Perdita Weeks.
