Fox is developing a comedy with the creators of “How I Met Your Mother,” Variety has learned.

Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are producing a comedy titled “Open Arms” written by scribe Peter Warren.

The single-camera comedy follows a couple, Howie and Joy, who when they learn they can’t have a baby, take their nest egg and buy the Vermont inn they visit every year, but quickly realize they’re in over their heads.

Sony Pictures Television is the studio. Bays, Thomas and Warren will all serve as EPs on the project with the “HIMYM” duo producing via their Bays Thomas Productions, which is set up at Sony TV where they are under an overall deal.

“Open Arms” marks the second sale for Bays and Thomas this development season. They also have a family comedy in the works at CBS, which received a hefty pilot production commitment, likely given their proven relationship with the network that was home to “HIMYM.” They are repped by UTA.

For Warren, the comedy marks his second consecutive development project, following a pilot set up at CBS last year, which was in contention for the 2016-2017 season, but was not ultimately picked up to series. His other credits include MTV’s “Happyland” and the feature “Ghost Team.” He is repped by CAA.
