Amazon Studios has hired network executive Nick Hall as head of development for half hour television series, Variety has learned.
Hall comes from HBO where he most recently served as senior vice president of comedy.
At HBO, Hall worked on series including the fan-favorite” Looking,” the return of “The Comeback,” “Enlightened,” “How to Make It in America,” “Project Greenlight” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which was recently announced to be coming back for a ninth season. He also helped develop Judd Apatow’s upcoming HBO comedy “Crashing,” among other projects.
Prior to joining HBO in 2008, Hall was at Warner Bros. Television where he was manager of comedy development.
Hall’s departure from HBO is the premium cabler’s latest shakeup, following the exit of president Michael Lombardo. Casey Bloys was named the new programming president. HBO recently upped drama execs Francesca Orsi and David Levine, who in 2014, were promoted at the same time as Hall.
Hall will report to Amazon Studios head of half hour TV series, Joe Lewis.
