The following 2016 Olympic events will be shown on NBC networks Thursday, August 11, 2016. Highlights from the Olympics schedule include Simone Biles competing in the women’s gymnastics individual all-around competition, and Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte facing off for gold in the Men’s 200m individual medley:
Men’s Golf: Round 1 (6:30am ET LIVE — Golf Channel, Live Stream)
Golf returns to the Olympics for the first time since 1904. While Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Speith, and Rory McIlroy are not participating citing concerns over Zika or scheduling conflicts, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler are among the 120 men in the tournament. Coverage will last for hours, so hunker down.
While the focus has been on Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross, Team USA’s Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat are also a dynamic duo to watch. They face Russians Evgenia Ukolova and Ekaterina Khomyakova.
The Italians are the same team that knocked Phil Dalhausser and his then partner Todd Rogers out of the Olympics in 2012. The veteran volleyball player be looking to get revenge with his new partner, Nick Lucena.
Women’s Gymnastics: Individual all-around final (3:00pm ET LIVE, 8pm ET/PT TAPED, Live Stream)
Simone Biles is the heavy favorite to win, but stuff competition may come from her American teammate Aly Raisman (only two athletes per country are allowed to compete, so Gabby Douglas will not be defending her title). Russia’s Aliya Mustafina and China’s Shang Chunsong will also contend for medals.
Those who can’t wait for primetime can watch stream the finals live.
Men’s Volleyball: Brazil vs. United States (9:35pm ET LIVE NBCSN, Live Stream)
Team USA takes on the host nation at Maracanãzinho, “the spiritual home of volleyball.” Brazilians are among the world’s most passionate volleyball fans.
Men’s 200m Individual Medley Final (10:01pm ET LIVE/PT TAPED NBC, Live Stream)
Jeah! Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps go head-to-head in the men’s 200m individual medley final. Given his over-the-top personality, viewers tend to forget Lochte is the world record holder in the event.
