‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Sneak Peek: Ray and Kendra Make the Best of Being ‘Left Behind’

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” returns from its brief midseason break on March 31, kicking off an uninterrupted run of eight episodes as it barrels towards the Season 1 finale.

In episode 9, “Left Behind,” Kendra (Ciara Renee), Ray (Brandon Routh) and Sara (Caity Lotz) are stranded in the 1950s for two years after the Waverider flies off without them — thanks to time-traveling bounty hunter Chronos. While Sara chooses to return to the League of Assassins and Ra’s al Ghul, Ray and Kendra decide to assimilate into their unlikely new surroundings and explore their burgeoning chemistry. In Variety‘s exclusive sneak peek, we get to see just how close two have become during their time alone.

Unfortunately for Ray — who has been spectacularly unlucky in love ever since he was introduced on “Arrow” — executive producer Marc Guggenheim previews plenty of obstacles in The Atom and Hawkgirl’s path to happily ever after, not least of which is the resurgence of memories from Kendra’s past lives with dearly departed soulmate Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel).

“Kendra’s going to start to remember more of her past lives with Carter” in the final eight episodes, per Guggenheim, so “in many ways, Ray is competing with a dead man — we’re doing a love triangle where one corner of the triangle is dead,” he teased at WonderCon.

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
