Man Climbs KTLA Tower and Stops Hollywood Traffic

A man climbed the broadcast tower at KTLA on Wednesday afternoon, causing authorities to stop traffic on Sunset Boulevard during the evening commute.

“It’s a traffic nightmare,” said LAPD officer Ricardo Hernandez.

The man climbed the tower at about 4:45 p.m., Hernandez said. The man is about 60 feet above the ground, according to KTLA. He could be seen on broadcast images standing on the numeral “5” about halfway up the tower.

Firefighters set up large inflatable cushions beneath the man, who was wearing a baseball cap and a Boston Celtics sweatshirt.
