Kevin James is set to exec produce a comedy series at the network he calls home.
The “Kevin Can Wait” star is developing a series at CBS set to star comedian Gina Brillon, hailing from writer Adam Barr, a comedy vet from “Will & Grace” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”
The show stars Brillon as Gina, who, when her seven-year relationship suddenly ends, moves from the Bronx to Manhattan to pursue her dreams. It is inspired by Brillon’s stand-up comedy.
James will serve as executive producer alongside Jeff Sussman, Judy Marmel, Chris Mazilli. The project hails from Sony Pictures Television. It also serves to deepen James’ relationship with CBS. After starring on “King of Queens” from 1998 to 2007, James returned to the network this year with a new multi-camera comedy, “Kevin Can Wait.”
Brillon — who has appeared as a guest in one episode of “Kevin Can Wait” — will serve as a producer, in addition to starring.
