Longtime NBC marketing exec John Miller will be feted next month at the PromaxBDA conference in New York with the org’s lifetime achievement honor.

Miller, chief marketing officer of NBC Olympics, is one of the most respected marketers in the TV biz and a much admired figure at NBCUniversal. He’s been with the Peacock since 1982, rising from an affiliate promotion post on the West Coast to head of advertising and promotion for the network by 1985 and chief marketing officer of NBCUniversal TV Group in 2004. In 1999, he launchd the NBC Agency in-house firm, which he ran until 2010 before shifting to the NBC Sports Group.

“John Miller’s groundbreaking work at NBC and NBC Sports has defined best practices for entertainment marketing and influenced the entire PromaxBDA community for decades” said Steve Kazanjian, president-CEO of PromaxBDA. “John is a true pioneer, a master showman and an inspiration to so many of us who have had the pleasure of working with him over the years and seeing first-hand the talent, passion and integrity he brings to his work and to his life.”

Before joining NBC at the national level, Miller worked for NBC O&O WMAQ-TV in his native Chicago. He also held posts at CBS and CBS News.

Miller’s award will be presented during PromaxBDA’s annual conference running June 14-16 at the New York Hilton Midtown.
