‘I Love Dick’ Nearing Series Greenlight, Says Jill Soloway

It appears Jill Soloway is on her way to landing her second show at Amazon.

I Love Dick,” which stars Kevin Bacon, is nearing a series order, according to Soloway, who told Variety, “The ‘I Love Dick’ writers room is going now. They’ve already ordered the scripts.”

When asked for comment, Amazon said the series has not been officially greenlit at this time.

“I Love Dick” stars Bacon and Kathryn Hahn. The half-hour comedy is about a struggling married couple and their mutual obsession with an off-putting, but charismatic professor named Dick (Bacon). The story, set in a colorful academic community in Marfa, Texas, is based on Chris Kraus’ psycho-sexual novel of the same name.

The pilot, which was released on Aug. 19, has been met with positive reviews with Variety‘s Sonia Saraiya deeming it “one of the most fascinating and unconventional television projects ever.”

Bacon told Variety shooting the pilot was a great experience. “I’m excited by it,” he said. “I adore Jill and I think the process is… I can’t tell you how intense and amazing the process was to get the pilot done, so I can’t imagine doing a series.”

Should the series get the official greenlight, it would expand Soloway’s relationship with Amazon. The creator of “Transparent,” which has already been picked up for a fourth season, also has a musical comedy series in the works with the streaming service.
