‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Sneak Peek: Karev Gets in Trouble With Police in Season 13 Premiere (Watch)

When “Grey’s Anatomy” returns with Season 13 this week, a fan-favorite character finds himself in trouble with the police.

In last season’s finale, Jo (Camilla Luddington) revealed to Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) that she is still married to someone, but can’t divorce her husband because he is so abusive. When Karev (Justin Chambers) sees Jo confiding in DeLuca, he assumes they’re together romantically, so he punches him. (For a full Season 12 finale refresher, click here.)

In the Season 13 premiere, which airs this Thursday at 8 p.m., Karev is chatting to Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) about DeLuca, who’s admitted to the hospital for a brain scan, after being punched.

“How is he? Is there a brain injury?” a clearly panicked Karev asks Meredith, who reveals the patient is fine, before adding, “Alex, this is really bad.” Karev, guilty with a bloody hand, says, “I know. I know. I just, I went crazy. What if I talk to DeLuca before he says anything?”

That’s when Meredith suggests he speaks with the police, who are at the hospital. From the rest of the sneak peek video, it’s clear that Karev has only told Meredith the truth about the fight with DeLuca, but has lied to both Ben (Jason George) and Bailey (Chandra Wilson).
