CNN is replacing NBC News as the host of the Republican National Committee’s Super Tuesday debate in February, it was announced on Monday.

“The Republican National Committee has decided to move forward without NBC’s participation in our February debate in Houston, Texas. The RNC has awarded the debate to CNN, who will broadcast it on Thursday, February 25th in Houston at a location to be decided,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement released by CNN.

The RNC suspended its partnership with NBC News late last year, with the Republican organization taking issue with the way the news network handled the third GOP debate in October and the questions moderators asked candidates.

“The CNBC network is one of your media properties, and its handling of the debate was conducted in bad faith,” Priebus wrote in a letter to CNBC chairman Andrew Lack. “We understand that NBC does not exercise full editorial control over CNBC’s journalistic approach. However, the network is an arm of your organization, and we need to ensure there is not a repeat performance.”

The RNC’s debate committee apparently unanimously voted to terminate NBC’s involvement in a vote held Monday afternoon.

NBC has previously hosted two Republican primary debates.
