Forget winter, “the dead are coming” in the the latest trailer for “Game of Thrones” Season 6, and although it looks like many battles will be fought in the upcoming installments of the HBO hit, “the real war is between the living and the dead,” according to Ser Davos Seaworth.
The new trailer debuted at the Los Angeles premiere for Season 6 on Sunday night, and features a slew of new footage, including Jaime Lannister threatening the High Sparrow; Sansa Stark plotting her vengeance against the Freys and Ramsay Bolton; Arya Stark learning to fight in the House of Black and White — even while blind; Bran Stark getting to grips with The Sight, after remaining absent for all of Season 5; Tyrion Lannister coming face to face with Daenerys Targaryen’s captive dragons; and plenty of fight scenes featuring the Lannister, Bolton and Wildling forces, as the war for the Iron Throne intensifies.
Speculation has reached fever pitch over the fate of Jon Snow, who does make an appearance in the new trailer — albeit as a corpse — and his loss seems to have had a surprising impact on the Wildlings, who were prepared to follow him after the death of their leader, Mance Rayder, last season. Will Jon be resurrected by the Red Priestess Melisandre, who lost her last champion, Stannis, in Season 5? We’ll see what “Game of Thrones” Season 6 holds when it premieres Sunday, April 24 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
