‘Game of Thrones’ Live Concert Tour Coming in 2017

Game of Thrones” is going from the small screen to the stage.

Live Nation announced the 28-city “Game of Thrones” Live Concert Experience on Monday at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The show, based on music from the hit HBO show, is described as a “music and visual experience that will bring the Seven Kingdoms to life on a scale never seen before.”

The USC marching band kicked off the event, marching through the streets of Hollywood while playing the “GoT’ theme, to the delight of the hundreds of fans and to the chagrin of cars in traffic.

Inside the venue, Bran Stark himself, Isaac Hempstead Wright, introduced “Game of Thrones” composer and tour mastermind Ramin Djawadi.

Djawadi explained the idea for the tour came from the TV show’s creators. “We were in the studio together reviewing some music and one of them said, ‘I would love to see this live. I want to full orchestra. I want to see a choir.’ So we went from there.”

The experience will be a blend of LED screens and special stage designs. Concept art for the stage (see below) shows a giant screen flanked by flaming towers that house the choir and orchestra. But Djawadi promises it will be even more impressive in person. “We designed a stage that will be 360 degrees. There won’t be a bad seat in the house.”

As for the music itself, Djawadi said the playlist would include fan favorites including, “Mhysa,” “The Children,” and “Light of the Seven.”

The tour kicks off next February in Kansas City and will hit 28 cities, including Los Angeles, New York City and Las Vegas. Three shows in Canada are also planned. Tickets go on sale on Live Nation on August 13.

With the “Game of Thrones” Season 7 premiere a year away, the concert will be one way fans can get their “Game of Thrones” fix. See more photos from today’s announcement event above.
