Rick Joyce has joined “Entertainment Tonight” as co-executive producer, Variety has learned exclusively. He will work alongside “ET” executive producer Brad Bessey.
The new post marks a return to the entertainment news show for Joyce, who worked on “Entertainment Tonight” for a decade with positions including news director and managing editor.
Most recently, Joyce has been the exec producer of “The List,” a lifestyle news magazine that airs on 15 Scripps stations in major markets. Serving as the EP for four years, he developed and launched the series in 2012. In 2006, he developed and launched the digital platform CelebTV.com as exec producer for parent company Intersport in Chicago.
“Rick Joyce was one of the first people I called when I became executive producer of ‘ET.’ We have a shorthand, a shared history and I respect him as a leader and an innovator. Bringing Rick on board as co-executive producer is an investment in our brand’s continued leadership, growth and evolution,” said Bessey, who’s also the exec producer of “The Insider.”
“Entertainment Tonight,” hosted by Nancy O’Dell and Kevin Frazier, is produced and distributed by CBS Television Distribution. Nischelle Turner, Cameron Mathison and Samantha Harris are correspondents, with the latter duo serving as co-anchors of “Entertainment Tonight Weekend.”
