The deal calls for the London-based exec to earn a base salary of $1.6 million, in addition to bonuses and stock grants. The new pact, disclosed Thursday in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, replaces the contract set in January 2014 when Perrette was promoted to his current post.
Perrette joined Discovery as chief digital officer in 2011, after 11 years with NBCUniversal. He is a key player within Discovery Communications, which is banking on most of its future growth coming from overseas markets.
Discovery Networks International encompasses channels in more than 220 countries, giving it one of the largest international footprints of any U.S. major. Perrette also steers the operations of Discovery’s Eurosport TV and SVOD services.
In 2014, international revenue surpassed domestic revenue for the first time in the company’s 30-year history.
