Comedy Central has ordered up a second helping of roast comedian. “Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle” will return to the network on Sundays in January starting on New Year’s Day, culminating in four consecutive nights of final-round competitions and a live championship finale from Jan. 26-29.

Roastmaster General Jeff Ross will once again serve as emcee of the battles, with Brian Moses as referee. The main events will feature an all-star panel of judges who decide the fate of the 16 comedians chosen to compete.

Some of the 16 contestants will be plucked from preliminary rounds in various cities across the country. Those preliminary rounds begin filming Nov. 5 in Atlanta, New York, Denver and Los Angeles. The judges and competitors for the televised rounds will be announced at a later date.

Comedian Mike Lawrence emerged victorious at the end of the first season of “Roast Battle.”

“Roast Battle is a movement. The fans love it and the comics love doing it. I wish all the world’s problems could be settled this way,” said Ross.

“Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle II” is executive produced by Ross, Joel Gallen, Amy Zvi, Willie Mercer, Moses, Rell Battle, and Rick Austin. Jonas Larsen, Christian McLaughlin, Jordan Ellner and Ryan Moran are the executives in charge of production for Comedy Central.
