CBS Slots ‘Person of Interest’ Return Date, Loads Up on Other Originals for Spring

The returns of “Person of Interest” and “Undercover Boss” and a trio of “The Price Is Right” prime-time specials highlight CBS’ end-of-season programming strategy, the network announced Wednesday.

The Eye, which is in a tight battle with NBC for the season’s bragging-rights honor of No. 1 network in the adults 18-49 demo, will fortify its down-the-stretch schedule with plenty of original episodes in both April and May. In fact, a few shows — “Mike & Molly,” “Person of Interest” and “The Odd Couple” — will air twice a week, and two others will have expanded finales.

A quartet of shows will wrap their seasons before the start of the May sweep, including first-year Thursday comedy “Life in Pieces” (March 31), which will have an hourlong sendoff when it returns following a two-week hiatus during the network’s coverage of college basketball’s March Madness. Also exiting early are “Supergirl” (April 18), “Scorpion” (April 25) and “Limitless” (April 26).

Taking over for “Limitless” on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. starting May 3 will be “Person of Interest,” which has been off the air since May of last year. It will also air regularly on Mondays at 10 starting May 9, taking over one week after “NCIS: Los Angeles” closes out its season.

As previously announced, acclaimed drama “The Good Wife” exits on May 8. The dramas surrounding it on the Sunday schedule, “Madam Secretary” and “Elementary,” also conclude that night. “Undercover Boss” is back with a new episode on Sunday, May 15 at 8 p.m., and then wraps its seventh season two weeks later.

“Mike & Molly” returns Monday, April 25, at 8 p.m. and will then have back-to-back episodes on the next three Mondays to close out its season. “The Odd Couple” expands to two nights a week with a new Monday broadcast beginning May 2 at 9:30 p.m., in addition to its regularly scheduled Thursday 8:30 p.m. time slot starting April 7.

“The Price Is Right,” network television’s No. 1-rated daytime series and the longest-running game show in television history, will have three one-hour reality show-themed prime-time specials on the final three nights of the television season. First up on Monday, May 23 is a “Survivor”-themed episode, followed on May 24 with a “Big Brother” episode and May 25 with an “Amazing Race” hour.
