Bradley Cooper is on board to exec produce the latest “Stand Up to Cancer” primetime fundraising special, set to air Sept. 9 as a roadblock across more than two dozen networks.

The non-profit org Stand Up to Cancer has raised more than $370 million since 2008 with its biennial fundraising telecasts. The org focuses on funding collaborative research efforts targeting a variety of cancer-related illnesses.

Cooper’s father, Charles Cooper, died of lung cancer in 2011. Stand Up to Cancer’s mission “is one that is one that is very close to my heart,” Cooper said. “I am proud to join forces to make this vision a reality and to be part of this movement that is dedicated to getting lifesaving treatments to cancer patients faster.”

The hourlong special featuring an array of celebrities and musical performances will air live from the downtown Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall. Done + Dusted, the production banner known for staging large-scale live events, will produce the telecast. Done + Dusted’s Hamish Hamilton, who directed this year’s Super Bowl halftime show with Beyonce, will exec produce with D+D president Ian Stewart.

“It’s a rare privilege to work on a show that combines the highest levels of entertainment and talent with the opportunity to contribute to the greater good of humanity,” said Stewart.

ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, HBO, Showtime, Starz, Comedy Central, VH1, WGN America and others are donating the airtime for the special, which will also stream live on Hulu, Yahoo and MLB.com. For the second time, “Stand Up to Cancer” will air simultaneously in Canada across major networks including CBC, City, CTV and Global.
