Unscripted television producer A. Smith & Co. has created two new divisions, one for documentary and factual programming and another for entertainment programming, the company announced Monday.
In addition, the company has named former FremantleMedia executive Toby Gorman as president of the entertainment division, A. Smith & Co. Entertainment. Frank Sinton will serve as president of the factual side, A. Smith & Co. Dox, which springs from the merger of A. Smith & Co. Productions and sister company BASE Productions.
A. Smith & Co. Productions will continue to be led by Arthur Smith as CEO, president Kent Weed, and COO Frank Sinton.
“With our award winning productions across both the entertainment and documentary space and continued growth in many genres, we decided to service our clients with two beefed up divisions,” said Smith. “With Frank Sinton leading the charge of Dox, and Toby Gorman at the helm of Entertainment, we are well positioned to increase our production of the most compelling content possible across broadcast, cable and digital.”
Under the new structure, Entertainment will be home to A. Smith-produced series such as “Hell’s Kitchen” and “American Ninja Warrior,” while Dox will be home to “Unsung,” “Inside the Label,” and “Sport Science.” Dox will also enjoy a partnership with Strong Eagle Media, producer of the film “Citizen Soldier.”
