Telefe International has closed early Latin American deals on upcoming TV drama-thriller series “El regreso de Lucas” (“The Return of Lucas”), a co-production with Peruvian channel America TV.

The distribution arm of Argentina’s leading TV broadcaster Telefe has sold the series to Chile and Ecuador; buyers’ identities will be announced shortly.

At MipTV, Telefe International is presenting series’ first episodes. A German option is under advanced negotiations, per Telefe’s content distribution manager Daniel Otaola.

“We are very pleased with the results we are achieving, as we have made sales even before series release, not so usual in recent times,” Otaola said.

A 60-episode one-hour series developed and written in-house at Telefe, “Lucas” centers around a boy who was abducted from his parents during a beach day and suddenly seems to reappear 20 years later, sparking family tension and suspense: It’s not certain this really is Lucas.

Currrently Telefe’s best-selling title, skein raises the ante on Telefe’s TV production ambitions. Shot entirely in location in Lima, in Ultra HD with 4K technology, “Lucas” also presents a pan-Latin America cast which includes Colombia’s Ana Maria Orozco (“Betty La Fea”), Peru’s Salvador del Solar (“Narcos”) and Diego Bertie (“No Mercy”), plus Argentina’s Pablo Martinez (“Almost Angels”) and Macarena Achaga (“Gossip Girl Acapulco”).

“The Return of Lucas” is scheduled to launch during 2016 in Argentina and Peru.
