Federation, Fisher King Team on Nordic Noir Series ‘Bordertown’

Paris-based Federation Entertainment, the outfit behind Mathieu Kassovitz’s spy series “The Bureau,” has partnered up with Finnish shingle Fisher King Production on “Bordertown,” a Scandinavian crime series directed by Miikko Oikkonen, Jyri Kähönen and Juuso Syrjä.

The series was commissioned by Finnish pubcaster YLE and is currently in production. Federation and Fisher King previously collaborated on the hospital drama series “Replacements.”

“Bordertown” centers on an investigator who moves to a small Finnish town by the Russian border with his wife and teenage daughter to lead a peaceful life, but ends up having to solve a series of mysterious crimes and track down a serial killer who is tormenting the community.

“ ‘Bordertown’ is a haunting, suspense-filled drama that will take viewers to the edge of their seats. With the crime genre high in demand worldwide, we know that ‘Bordertown’ has all the key elements to capture a global audience,” said Pascal Breton, Federation Entertainment CEO.

Fisher King Production CEO Matti Halonen said the series’ characters and plotlines “combine the dark elements of Nordic noir with warm family drama, culminating in a unique crime procedural.”

Federation will start shopping “Bordertown” at the upcoming Cannes-set showcase MipTV as part of the inaugural MIPDrama Screenings program.
