PARIS — Banijay Group has appointed Lagardere Studios boss Takis Candilis to take on the newly-created position of head of scripted for Banijay Group.
Based in Paris, Candilis will be spearheading Banijay’s scripted production company in France and will oversee the entire scripted production business for the whole group.
Through his role, Candilis will aim at expanding the French scripted business and the international drama output.

Candilis, who announced his exit from Lagardere Studios last week, said it was an “exciting time to arrive at Banijay Group following the recent merger which has made it the world’s largest independent content creation company.”
“There are many award-winning, fiction producers within the Group and I look forward to working with them to determine new projects and to support them as they develop and widen their production slates,” added Candilis, who career in the TV industry spans over 40 years.
Before his 8-year tenure as president and CEO of Lagardere Studios, Candilis served as head of drama at France’s top commercial network TF1 and took the helm of TF1 Production in 2002. His producing credits include “Navarro,” “L’Instit” and Quai No.1.” Under his leadership, Lagardere Studios ventured into English-language productions, such as Tom Fontana’s “Borgia” and “Midnight Sun” from “The Bridge” creator Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein.
Earlier this year, Banijay Group and Zodiak Media merged to become an indie production powerhouse boasting revenues of an estimated $1 billion.
