Inside BeautyCon 2016: Drew Barrymore, Kelly Rowland, Ashley Graham, and More Influencers Attend

In only its third year, BeautyCon has cemented itself as the event bringing together beauty brands, influencers, and the Instagram-addicted enthusiasts who love them. Nearly six thousand attendees turned out to Pier 36 in Lower Manhattan on Saturday for the annual BeautyCon festival.

The biggest screams from adoring fans were not for Drew Barrymore or Kelly Rowland — both of whom made appearances — but instead for YouTube vloggers Alisha Marie and Mia Stammer. “Oh my God, that was Alisha and Mia, did you see them?” said one fan as she struggled to reach an arm high enough to Snapchat the duo’s arrival. Other social media influencers in attendance included Bethany Mota, Sierra Furtado, Paula Galindo, Jessie Paege, and sisters Olivia and Sixtine Rouyre (pictured above).

“It’s crazy how much the internet has changed beauty,” Rowland told Variety. “I love social media so I can share things with my fans, but I also like to look through for beauty inspiration. I’m a beauty junkie, and it’s all my mother’s fault. She is the kind of woman who would go to the drugstore for one or two things and come out with 40. She could never buy one mascara. She had to buy four!”

Rowland was on hand to moderate a conversation with model Ashley Graham about the importance of confidence in the age of social media. There was an affirmational subtext to the talk that seemed to run through every aspect of the convention’s itinerary. Graham — who has joined the revamped “America’s Next Top Model” judging panel — stated, “The things I used to hate about myself because society says they are ugly — my stomach, my cellulite, my back fat — are now the things I love most about myself.”

Influencers and fans tweeted and Instagrammed their coverage of the event using the hashtag #beautyconNyc.
