Fox to Air Inaugural Electronic Music Awards

Spring 2016 will bring the electronic dance music genre its own awards show.

Launched by DJ Paul Oakenfold, the Electronic Music Awards (and accompanying foundation) will recognize outstanding DJs and producers, as well as international dance clubs, EDM festivals and radio shows. The hourlong awards show will air on Fox.

Nominations for the inaugural event were announced Thursday. Diplo and Skrillex received nods for DJ of the Year, but none of their collaborative work as DJ duo Jack U — which includes the pair’s Justin Bieber-featured hit track “Where Are U Now” — was nominated. At Monday’s 58th annual Grammy Awards, the duo’s efforts as Jack U earned them the awards for best dance recording and best dance/electronic album.

Both Disclosure and Jamie xx, however, who lost to Jack U in the best dance/electronic album category at the Grammys, received EMA nominations for album of the year. Also being recognized in the album of the year category are Galantis, Calvin Harris and Alina Baraz & Galimatias, none of whom were nominated for the best dance/electronic album Grammy.

The EMAF Awards will air April 23 on Fox.
