In 2013, Packer signed a first-look production deal with Universal Pictures under his Will Packer Productions banner. He has produced eight films that have all landed at No. 1 at the box office on their opening weekends. Those movies include “Ride Along” and “Ride Along 2,” “No Good Deed,” “Think Like a Man” and “Obsessed.”
He was also an executive producer on “Straight Outta Compton,” which was the top film at the North American box office for three consecutive weeks and was nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay. His next film, “Almost Christmas,” stars Danny Glover, Kimberly Elise and Gabrielle Union, and will be released in theaters on Nov. 11.
On the television side, he has an overall deal with Universal Television. He is the executive producer of the “Roots” remake, the eight-hour mini-series that will air over four consecutive nights beginning on May 30 on History, A&E and Lifetime. His next primetime network series is ABC’s “Uncle Buck,” which debuts on June 14.
Packer is also repped by Ziffren Brittenham and The Collins Jackson Agency.
