Sony Pictures Entertainment is teaming with Marvel Studios to produce the sixth movie in its franchise, which has grossed $4 billion worldwide. Tom Holland will star as Peter Parker and Marisa Tomei will play his Aunt May.
Jon Watts (“Cop Car”) is directing the franchise re-boot from a script by the team of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing.

Sony announced on January 20 that it was moving the new “Spider-Man” forward three weeks to July 7, 2017. The July 28 date was vacated by Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” which will now bow on May 26, 2017.
Josh Greenstein, Sony Pictures marketing-distribution president, said, “There’s so much about Spider-Man – including the web-slinging action – that lends itself perfectly to the Imax screen. We are confident that audiences everywhere around the world will want to see it in Imax.”
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios announced in February, 2015, that Spider-Man would appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the character appearing in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film and Sony releasing a Spider-Man film co-produced by Feige and Pascal.
