“Community” alum Donald Glover has joined “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” sources confirmed to Variety.
Tom Holland plays the titular superhero and Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise his role as Tony Stark — aka Iron Man.
Jon Watts is directing Sony’s reboot of the “Spider-Man” franchise. Marisa Tomei will portray Aunt May and Zendaya is also on board in a mystery role. Plot details are still being heavily guarded as is a description of Glover’s character.
Kevin Feige is producing with Amy Pascal. Production is expected to star this summer with the film hitting theaters on July 7, 2017.
Glover most recently appeared in the Oscar-nominated film “The Martian” opposite Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. He can be seen next in his FX comedy “Atlanta,” which premieres later this summer. His other past credits include “Lazarus” and “Magic Mike XXL.”
Glover is repped by WME, MGMT Entertainment and Ginsburg Daniels. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
