Rebecca Hall and Dan Stevens are starring in the romantic comedy “Permission,” currently shooting in Brooklyn.

Brian Crano is directing from his own script, in which a couple decide to sleep with other people for the sake of their relationship. The cast includes Gina Gershon, Francois Arnaud, Morgan Spector, Bridget Everett, David Joseph Craig, Sarah Steele and Jason Sudeikis.

“Permission” is a Ball and Chain and Picture Films production, in association with Paper Trail. The producers are Margot Hand, Hall, Giri Tharan and Joshua Thurston. Erika Hampson, Michael Klein and Crano are the executive producers.

WME is representing worldwide rights.

The story unfolds at the 30th birthday party of Hall’s character, as Stevens’ character is about to propose, when the couple’s best friend stands up and makes a drunken toast, suggesting that as their relationship is so functional, equitable and stable, it’s threatening to their friends and perhaps they should sleep around before their inevitable marriage.

Hall is starring in “Christine,” which is premiering at Sundance, and was recently seen in “The Gift.” Stevens will next star as the Beast in Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast.” Hall and Stevens are repped by WME and Julian Belfrage Associates. Stevens is also repped by Peikoff Mahan. Crano is repped by Sloan, Offer, Webber, Dern and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
