Patton Oswalt has been selected to host the Writers Guild Awards West Coast ceremony on Feb. 13 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
Hugh Fink returns as executive producer of this year’s show.
“Even though I am unable to read or write, the fact that the WGAW wants me to host their awards show proves to me that the only thing bigger than the Guild’s scotch budget…is the size of their hearts,” said Oswalt.
Fink said, “I am truly honored to have Patton Oswalt hosting the 2016 Writers Guild Awards. This fulfills a lifelong dream Patton and I have shared since our early days as standup comedians: to work together in a Hyatt Regency ballroom immediately following the Shapiro Bat Mitzvah.”
Patton and co-writers Gerry Duggan, Wayne Federman and Erik Weiner received a Writers Guild Award nomination last year for co-writing the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards show, which Oswalt hosted.
In 2013, he won a Critics Choice Award for his guest appearance as Garth Blundin on “Parks and Recreation” and in 2008 he was nominated for an Annie Award for his role in Disney’s animated movie “Ratatouille.” He received a Broadcast Film Critics Association Award nomination for best supporting actor for “Young Adult.”
Oswalt’s TV credits include “Veep,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “BoJack Horseman,” “Justified,” “Modern Family” and “Two and a Half Men.”
This year’s production team includes producers Tara Power and Joselyn Allen of Decoupage Productions, co-producer Kelly Brock, director Nick Murray and head writer Joe O’Brien, as well as writers Fink, Ed Lee, Beth Armogida, Shelly Goldstein, Gerry Duggan, and Matt Oswalt.
