Open Road Films has given an awards-season limited release of Nov. 4 to its Miles Teller boxing drama “Bleed for This” with a wide release on Nov. 23.

Teller stars as Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza, a local Rhode Island boxer who shot to stardom after winning two world title fights but was told he might never walk again after a near-fatal car accident left him with a severed spine.

With the help of trainer Kevin Rooney — portrayed by Aaron Eckhart — Pazienza was able to return to the ring to reclaim his title belt only a year after the accident.

Ben Younger directed from his own script. The movie also stars Katey Sagal, Ted Levine, Ciaran Hinds, Jordan Gleber and Amanda Clayton.

Martin Scorsese is an executive producer. Producers are Bruce Cohen, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Chad A. Verdi, Noah Kraft, Ben Younger and Pamela Thur.

Other exec producers include Joshua Sason, Michelle Verdi, Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson. The film was shot in late 2014 in Rhode Island.

Open Road’s “Spotlight” won the Academy Award for best picture in February.
