Warner Bros. has given Melissa McCarthy McCarthy’s comedy “Life of the Party” a prime early summer release date of May 11, 2018.

McCarthy and spouse Ben Falcone set up the comedy project several months ago at Warner’s New Line with McCarthy starring and Falcone directing. As with “The Boss,” McCarthy and Falcone wrote the script and are producing through their On the Way production company.

At that point, plans were underway to shoot “Life of the Party” in August. Other than having a similarity in tone to the late Rodney Dangerfield’s “Back to School,” plot details are under wraps.

“Life of the Party” is the second project set up at New Line with McCarthy starring and Falcone directing  following 2014’s “Tammy,” which grossed $100 million worldwide on a $19 million budget.

McCarthy stars in Sony’s “Ghostbusters” with Kristen Wiig. Her previous credits include “Spy,” “Identity Thief,” “The Heat” and “Bridesmaids,” for which she received an Oscar nomination.

It’s the first title to be dated on May 11, 2018. Disney-Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part I” opens a week earlier.
