RT Features, and Martin Scorsese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff’s Sikelia Productions will finance Josh and Benny Safdie’s “Uncut Gems.”
RT Features and Elara Pictures will produce with Sikelia’s Scorsese and Tillinger Koskoff serving as executive producers.
“I’m delighted to be working with RT to support a new generation of filmmakers,” Scorsese said. “The Safdie Brothers bring an exciting new perspective and tremendous vitality to their storytelling.”
RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira said, “I’m very excited to be a part of this project. It’s a great script and an amazing team behind it. I’m positive that Josh and Benny will do a fantastic job. Just by watching what they’ve done so far it’s clear to me that they are unique filmmakers.”
Plot details are unknown at this time. The Safdies will direct the pic and co-write it with Ronald Bronstein.
“Growing up and learning with Mr. Scorsese’s New York will always influence the way we look at a street, at a face, at a world, a story,” Josh and Benny Safdie said. “Finding ourselves in partnership with Marty, Emma and RT is a bizarre fantasy of surreal proportions. It’s too much and we love that.”
The Safdies recently wrapped production on “Good Time,” which stars Robert Pattinson.
Scorsese is repped by WME Entertainment and LBI Entertainment. The Safdies are represented by WME and Lichter Grossman.
WME Global secured the financing and represents worldwide rights to the film.
