Mark Waters has closed a deal to direct “Magic Camp” for Disney with Suzanne Todd attached to produce.
The story follows an aspiring young magician who heads to Magic Camp for the summer. There, his raw talent emerges, renewing his own spirit and inspiring his camp counselor, a down-on-his-luck, former child prodigy.
Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue wrote the latest version of the script. Steve Martin and Matt Spicer and Max Winkler wrote previous drafts.
Waters, who is represented by UTA, most recently directed “Bad Santa 2” which opens in theaters this Thanksgiving. Other past credits include “Just Like Heaven” and “The Spiderwick Chronicles.”
The Tracking Board first reported talks between Waters and Disney.
