FilmBuff will distribute “Welcome to Happiness,” a fantasy comedy-drama starring Kyle Gallner, in theaters and VOD on May 20.

The film also stars Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”), Keegan-Michael Key, Molly C. Quinn (“Castle”), Olivia Thirlby, Josh Brener, Brendan Sexton III, Paget Brewster (“Criminal Minds”) and Frances Conroy (“American Horror Story”).

Gallner plays a children’s author, who rents a strange apartment where there’s a magical door in the closet that allows those who go through it to erase mistakes from their past. While he was once happy to facilitate the passage of the random strangers summoned to his apartment, he soon begins to question why he himself is not allowed to go through.

Offerman plays the landlord and father figure to Gallner’s character.

The film won the outstanding achievement in filmmaking award at the Newport Beach Film Festival; the excellence in producing and producers choice awards at the International Festival of Cinema; and best ensemble cast at the Phoenix Film Festival.

The film is written and directed by Oliver Thompson and produced by Thompson, Bay Dariz, Gallner and Quinn. The film was shot in Los Angeles in mid-2014.

Gallner starred in “American Sniper.” Sam Scupp negotiated the deal on behalf of FilmBuff.
