Jim Parsons has joined the cast of the NASA drama “Hidden Figures” starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe.
Kevin Costner and Kirsten Dunst are also starring with Ted Melfi directing.
Chernin Entertainment is producing with Donna Gigliotti via Levantine Films, and Melfi.
The film is based on the true story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) — brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva are overseeing the project for Fox 2000.
Parsons will play the head engineer at the Space Task Group at NASA.
He continues to be seen on the hit show “The Big Bang Theory,” which has earned him four Lead Actor Emmys in its run. He is repped by CAA, Principal Entertainment, and Gang Tyre Ramer & Brown.
