UPDATED: Jeff Skoll’s Participant Media has named communications veteran Ileen Reich as its new senior vice president of publicity and corporate communications.
Reich was most recently senior vice president for national publicity at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Making the announcement was Christina Kounelias, Participant’s executive vice president for worldwide marketing and communications. Reich will report to Kounelias.
According to the announcement, Reich will work with each Participant business unit to develop and execute strategic publicity initiatives across all film, television, and digital content and also support social impact initiatives, as well as manage internal and external corporate communications. “She will lead and supervise the department, which includes entertainment publicity, events and corporate communications,” the announcement added.
Reich will be collaborating with Laura Kim, Participant’s senior vice president for film marketing and work closely with the studio and distribution partners and seek to identify PR and branding opportunities for Participant film content and executives.
“Ileen’s tremendous talent and experience, paired with her innovative thinking and passion for Participant’s mission, make her a great addition to our team,” Kounelias said in a statement. “The timing couldn’t be better, since we’re heading into a very busy and exciting fall with four films screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.”
At Sony, Reich oversaw the strategy and implementation of consumer PR campaigns, awards campaigns and talent and filmmaker relations for 14 years. She worked on the publicity for a number of films, including the “Spider-Man” franchise and “American Hustle,” “The Social Network,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Captain Phillips,” “Moneyball” and “Pursuit of Happyness.”
Prior to Sony Pictures, Reich was Vice President, National Publicity, West Coast for New Line Cinema.
