“Ice Age” gets apocalyptic in the new trailer for the upcoming sequel “Collision Course.”
Outer space plays a major role in the film, with Scrat still pursuing that acorn in a space suit in the trailer.
As usual, Scrat sparks a new series of cosmic events that threaten the “Ice Age” world — in this case, a potentially apocalyptic meteor shower. That leaves Sid the sloth, Manny the mammoth, Diego the sabertooth tiger and the other talking animals in search of new lands.
Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes and Jennifer Lopez return to voice the cast. They’re joined by newcomers Stephanie Beatriz, Adam DeVine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Melissa Rauch, Michael Strahan and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Mike Thurmeier directs and Lori Forte produces the animated movie.
The Fox sequel — the fifth film in the Blue Sky franchise — hits theaters on July 22. The first four installments hauled $2.8 billion collectively at the worldwide box office.
