First Look at Dylan O’Brien in ‘American Assassin’

CBS Films has unveiled the first photo of Dylan O’Brien in “American Assassin” as iconic CIA black ops recruit Mitch Rapp.

The movie is currently filming in Europe with Michael Keaton, Taylor Kitsch and Sanaa Lathan. “Kill the Messenger” helmer Michael Cuesta is directing the thriller from a screenplay by Stephen Schiff.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler are producing the film. Based on Vince Flynn’s novel, the movie follows Cold War veteran and CIA training officer Stan Hurley (Keaton) and deputy director Irene  Kennedy (Lathan), who’s tasked Hurley with training a black ops recruit devastated by the loss of his fiancée to a terrorist attack.

The pair is eventually dispatched on a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent — played by actress Shiva Negar — to stop a mysterious operative (played by Kitsch) from starting World War III in the Middle East.

O’Brien is best known for starring in the “Maze Runner” franchise. He’s recovered from injuries suffered earlier this year in a car accident on the set of “Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” which will begin shooting next year with a release date in 2018.

American Assassin” is one of 15 novels set in the world of counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp. CBS Films, which is releasing the movie with Lionsgate, has not yet set an opening date. Check out the first look below.
