Charlie Plummer Joins Oren Moverman’s ‘The Dinner’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Charlie Plummer has joined the cast of Oren Moverman’s “The Dinner,” sources tell Variety.

Laura Linney, Richard Gere, Rebecca Hall and Steve Coogan also star.

Cotty Chubb will produce “The Dinner” via his ChubbCo shingle. Eva Maria Daniels and Olga Segura will exec produce.

The story is based on Herman Koch’s novel, first published in 2009 in Holland and since translated into dozens of languages. Set at a dinner in Amsterdam, the story revolves around two brothers, one running for prime minister of the Netherlands, who must deal with their teenage sons having committed a violent crime.

Plummer will play the only son of Linney and Coogan.

The novel was adapted in 2013 by Menno Meyjes as a Dutch drama, which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was also the basis of a 2014 Italian drama directed by Ivano De Matteo and screened at Venice International Film Festival. It won the Europa Cinemas Label as best European film.

Plummer recently wrapped Joshua Leonard’s “Behold My Heart,” opposite Marisa Tomei, and he is attached to Catherine Hardwicke’s “Stargirl.” He is repped by CAA, Primary Wave Entertainment, Zoom Talent and Peikoff Mahan.
