Norwegian helmer Andre Ovredal has boarded fantasy pic “Mortal,” starring Irish thesp Robert Sheehan.
IM Global is launching international sales on the project in Cannes this year.
Ovredal, whose pic “Trollhunter” was a hot title at 2011’s Sundance Film Festival, will direct the fantasy adventure origins story about a young man discovering he has God-like powers based on ancient Norwegian mythology.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik, Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of 42 and John Einar Hagen of Nordisk Film Production are producing. Michael Roban, Henrik Zein, Aage Aaberge, Aron Coleite, Josh Horsfield and Ovredal will exec produce.
Nordisk Film and Ingenious Media are backing the title, with Nordisk distributing the pic in Nordic countries.
Sheehan is best known for “Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” and can next be seen in Dean Devlin’s “Geostorm” for Warner Bros.
Production is slated to take place in Norway this summer.
