Newcomer Ilfenesh Hadera will play Dwayne Johnson’s love interest in the movie reboot of the classic 90s television show “Baywatch.”
Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach are also on board with “Quantico” actress Priyanka Chopra in talks to round out the cast. Seth Gordon is directing the Paramount film.
Johnson will also produce the movie with his partner Dany Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions banner. Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman are producing as well, along with Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Greg Bonann.
Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the latest draft of the script. Plot details are currently vague, but sources close to the project reveal that the studio is taking a comedic route with the movie. Production is expected to begin in the next few months.
Hadera first broke out this past December in Spike Lee’s “Chi-Raq” opposite Samuel L. Jackson, John Cusack, Nick Cannon and Angela Bassett. She had also appeared in Lee’s “Oldboy” and can now be seen in the Showtime drama “Billions.”
She is repped by Gersh Agency and Untitled Entertainment.
